WANTOP SOUP

Today , we will learn about wantop soup with some basic recipe 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

For the Wantons:

  • 250g (about 8 oz) minced pork or chicken
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Wonton wrappers (available in the refrigerated section of most grocery stores)

For the Soup:

  • 6 cups chicken broth (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 cups chopped bok choy or spinach
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Additional chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Preparing the Wantons:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the minced pork or chicken with soy sauce, sesame oil, minced ginger, minced garlic, chopped green onions, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
  2. Place a small spoonful of the mixture in the center of a wonton wrapper.
  3. Wet the edges of the wonton wrapper with water, then fold it over to form a triangle. Press the edges firmly to seal.
  4. Bring the two bottom corners of the triangle together and press to seal, creating the classic wonton shape. Repeat with the remaining filling and wrappers.

Making the Soup:

  1. In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped bok choy or spinach to the broth and cook for 2-3 minutes until wilted.
  3. Season the broth with soy sauce and sesame oil, adjusting to taste.
  4. Carefully drop the prepared wontons into the simmering broth and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface and the filling is cooked through.
  5. Once the wontons are cooked, ladle the soup into bowls, making sure to distribute the wontons and greens evenly.
  6. Garnish with additional chopped green onions if desired, and serve hot.
