Sure, here’s a simple recipe for making spring rolls:
Ingredients:
- 10-12 spring roll wrappers
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup bean sprouts
- 2-3 spring onions, thinly sliced
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the Filling:
- Heat some oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Add shredded cabbage, julienned carrot, sliced bell pepper, bean sprouts, and spring onions to the pan. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened but still crisp.
- Season the vegetables with soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine. Remove from heat and let the filling cool down.
- Assemble the Spring Rolls:
- Take a spring roll wrapper and place it on a clean, flat surface. Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the vegetable filling onto the bottom third of the wrapper.
- Fold the bottom of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly to enclose the filling completely. Seal the edge of the wrapper with a little water to ensure it stays closed. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Fry the Spring Rolls:
- Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add a few spring rolls at a time, seam side down, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Use tongs to remove the spring rolls from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Repeat until all the spring rolls are fried.
- Serve:
- Serve the spring rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or peanut sauce.
Enjoy your homemade spring rolls!
